BYD Shark 6 Wheels – Fitting CSA-X Sandstorm Wheels

When it came to building my BYD Shark, I needed a wheel that would meet several requirements. A lower offset than standard was essential to accommodate more aggressive LT285/65R18 Maxxis RAZR MT tyres. I knew I’d be doing plenty of off-road driving while heavily loaded, so I needed a wheel I could trust to handle the toughest outback conditions. I’ve seen too many inferior wheels fail over the years. Naturally, I also wanted a wheel that complemented the Shark, and when I spotted the CSA-X Sandstorm, I knew they’d be perfect. Many of my followers have asked about them so they could fit them to their vehicles.

I built my Shark over 4 days so I could head out to film a 1000 km off-road touring trip. It’s the first Shark to be fitted with a winch from Saber Offroad. I’ve fitted the HSP Load Rack Junior and Load Slide to the tub. The roof top tent is a Bushwakka ST15 with the Extreme Baby 180.

For communications, I have the GME XRS UHF radio and a Starlink Mini.

I often do long drives at night to get to locations, so I fitted the Ultra Vision Raptor 120W driving lights and mounted another Raptor 120W driving light to the roof. These are the 4000 Kelvin lights.

Having done 8000 km in the Shark at the time of writing, I’ve found it to be an interesting vehicle to drive and enjoy the time I spend in it, both on and off-road.
